The KindredHQ playlist #3

Words can be very distracting when you’re trying to work. Sometimes the familiarity of songs we love can help get us into a good thinking space, but other times, we need music that helps set a particular mood – creative, relaxed, focussed… Different music works in different ways for each of us, but I’ll be suggesting albums that you can have a listen to, and if you like it, download via the link in the play widget below.

First up is a lovely ambient electronica record by an amazing musician from San Francisco called Daniel Berkman AKA Colfax – I had the privilege of playing with him at a couple of shows in San Francisco recently, and discovered that not only is he an amazing musician, but that he’s San Francisco’s best kept secret. Who is Alex Butler

Hello, I'm Alex Butler and I founded the KindredHQ community and blog back in 2011 after I re-started a freelance career. I LOVE freelancing and I wouldn't swop the freedom, control and joy of working for myself for anything. But I realised how much I missed the company and energy of other people - of having a team around me. So, I got a few people together one day with our laptops, a jar of coffee and some jelly babies and we sat and worked together one afternoon. We've been doing that every week in London, UK since then! I am still 100% freelance and I like to share the everyday highs and lows of being a freelancer here on the blog.
