Protecting your precious ideas.

For many independents and freelancers, your intellectual property is your biggest asset. In Part 4 of our series, ‘Your Flying Start in Freelancing’ Albert Marshall of Marshall Media explains how you can protect your ideas without breaking the bank.

Albert has over twelve years experience in the games industry working for world-famous games companies, both on the publisher and console manufacturer side. Albert was called to the English Bar in 1995. Since then he has worked at Sony PlayStation (nine years) and Take-Two Interactive, owner of 2K and Rockstar Games (three years)

Watch this short video talk from Albert and you’ll learn:

– What do the terms ‘trademark’, ‘copyright’, ‘patents’. ‘design mark’ mean?

– Getting your contracts right

– Confidentiality and non disclosure agreements

– What you really, really have to do and what you don’t.

You can find Albert at Marshall Media’s website.

Who is Alex Butler

Hello, I'm Alex Butler and I founded the KindredHQ community and blog back in 2011 after I re-started a freelance career. I LOVE freelancing and I wouldn't swop the freedom, control and joy of working for myself for anything. But I realised how much I missed the company and energy of other people - of having a team around me. So, I got a few people together one day with our laptops, a jar of coffee and some jelly babies and we sat and worked together one afternoon. We've been doing that every week in London, UK since then! I am still 100% freelance and I like to share the everyday highs and lows of being a freelancer here on the blog.
