Desk of the Week #4

Lidia Drzewiecka shares her Desk of the Week!

I am an Art and Commercial Photographer. Although I have passion for all things digital, I use Photography as a main medium to communicate and frame my ideas. In order to make my art photographs I usually create decontextualised temporal installations through the use of stage props and live performers which I then photograph paying attention to the finest details.

Through my artistic expression I most passionately explore topics that circulate around performance, gender, cultural diversity, space, non-verbal communication and social psychology.

Commercially I am a Co-Founder of Ambience Production – a creative collaboration between two artist photographers.  We’re on Facebook and Twitter too!
Here is my little home office. What you can see on the top of my table is a light box display with my final UNI Exhibition project: Performative Accounts of Filmic Images which I now started using as a unique source of light that doesn’t make my eyes tired while I am working long hours. For those interested in full set of images you can view them on my behance profile.

Apart from my light boxes there is also my mac, a small notebook where I keep all my ideas and inspirations – precious thing ;] – and a glass container to keep the bussines cards handy . And I never lack a cup of coffee to keep the energy levels up This is it. All the rest of my working space is in my mind and within the world that surrounds me

Hope you like it here,

Lidia Drzewiecka

Who is Alex Butler

Hello, I'm Alex Butler and I founded the KindredHQ community and blog back in 2011 after I re-started a freelance career. I LOVE freelancing and I wouldn't swop the freedom, control and joy of working for myself for anything. But I realised how much I missed the company and energy of other people - of having a team around me. So, I got a few people together one day with our laptops, a jar of coffee and some jelly babies and we sat and worked together one afternoon. We've been doing that every week in London, UK since then! I am still 100% freelance and I like to share the everyday highs and lows of being a freelancer here on the blog.
